Insuring your rotary / Who will insure my Cosmo?

Can someone  tell me of a company that actually knows what a Eunos Cosmo is so that I can get it insured? please !!!
I\'d also be interested to know what others are paying to insure theirs?

Anything Engine/Performance/Tuning related / 12A Compression Readings

I\'ve just done a compression test on my 12A powered Ro80. The readings are as follows:
Front rotor:
9
9.5
9.5
Rear rotor:
8.5
8
7.5
I carried out the test as the car is low on power. What I would like to know from someone in the know is how would a 12A with similar readings generally perform? An NSU engine with these readings would perform pretty well but I don\'t know how the Mazda engines perform. I\'m basically trying to work out if I\'m lacking power due to this or something else. There is no smoke or starting problems.

We need some new rear bushes for our Turbo 2, they are the ones shown in the pic below marked No.5 Control Link I\'m sure Mazda ones will be some extortionate price so if anyone has any good secondhand ones to offer or knows of any good cheap alternatives I\'d be gratefull if you could let me know

General Technical / Launching problems!

My girlfriend is getting fed up with being beaten off the line by less powerfull cars! The reason being is that it does seem impossible to make a quick launch in our Turbo 2. When you pull away, you get a flat spot where pretty much nothing happens. Once you\'re through this, is goes fine, there\'s no issue with power, unfortunately though, whatever else you were next to has long gone by the time you get the power on. I\'ve tried myself and it just resulted in a horrid stench of burning clutch! It\'s obvious to me that this can\'t be the case for everyone so any ideas peeps? The engine has covered less than 8000miles since rebulid so that hopefully shouldnt be an issue. I\'ve run it through with fuel injection cleaner recently but that has made no difference?

General Technical / Backfiring Turbo 2

Our Turbo 2 keeps backfiring, I\'ve only heard it once as it\'s mainly my girlfriend who uses the car but she\'s just phoned me from her mobile a little distressed that it has made another loud BANG! She said it happened at about 6500rpm when changing gear. Any suggestions? I\'m not very up on modern engines with engine management & Turbo\'s etc so wouldnt know where to start? In all other respects it seems to be running fine. The only other thing (probably unrelated) is the buzzer keeps coming on whenever you start the car, it was originally going off because the coolant was low but after a top-up that light no longer comes on. There are no lights coming on with the buzzer this time and it doesnt appear that there are any bulbs gone.

General Technical / LPG Conversions

Has anyone converted their turbocharged RX7 to run on LPG? I\'ve heard that it can actually improve the performance in Turbocharged rotaries? Althought it\'s for reasons of economy that we would be wanting to do it. Most of the companies I have contacted here don\'t seem to want to touch turbocharged cars. I have the LPG kit I removed from my Renault 25 which I want to fit on a Ro80, although I wouldnt be brave enough to attempt converting the Turbo 2. Can anyone recommend any company\'s for this job?

General Technical / Series 1 dashboard lights

We\'ve lost the instrument panel lights on our Series 1 RX7. Not the warning lights, just the illumination behind. Before I pull the dash out (I have checked the fuses) I wondered if anyone knew what the cause may be? Just in case it\'s a familiar probelm I\'m assuming there is more than one bulb so it cant just be that?

General Technical / How far on a tank?

Turbo 2 is now MOT\'d, taxed and on the road. My girlfriend is now using it for work. Could anyone tell me what mileage we should expect to get on a full tank? We used to get about 220 miles on the Series 1. This is an 89 Turbo 2.

General Technical / Fog Light on Turbo 2

Our Turbo 2 failed its MOT on a tyre and the Fog Light not working. I think it\'s more than just a bulb as the dashboard foglight warning light is not working either. I know its a normal car electrics type question but does anyone have any suggestions? I\'m hopeless when it comes to car electrics. I cant even find the fuse box, there are a few fuses in the engine compartment near the front nearside is this the only one? Hence my Wanted request for a handbook!

At 118,000 miles I should think a new set of shocks wouldnt go amiss in our Turbo 2. Can anyone recommend where to go to get the best price? Or which are the best ones to go for?

General Technical / Flooded Inside!

We have recently bought a 1990 Turbo 2 Cabriolet. This will probably be the first of many question posts from me:)  but can anyone help with suggestions on leaks? The car is completely flooded inside, I emptied it out the other day and then when checking for the cause, found that the drain tubes behind the doors (where there is a sort of pocket in the hood) were both blocked. I cleared these and thought i may have solved the problem but after the next downfall the floor was soaking wet again. I sat in it next time and found it to be dripping in above where the window seats against the rubber. To try and be more descriptive, there is a rubber strip that runs along the side of the middle roof section (the hard piece where the catches are) it seems as if it running through there about where that strip ends, it then drips onto the seats and then through to the floor. There are no tears in the roof and no obvious damage to these rubbers strips. Anyway, I am hoping this will be one of those "I know what you need to do" problems that someone can answer for me. Are they prone to bad water leaks as a rule? I look forward to any suggestions, Thanks Phil.
