Happy days  :D

I tried different pressure caps on the AST and even fitted an aftermarket AST, but the coolant was still letting by into the overflow tank and onto the floor.

However went down to Haywood Rotary today and Carl plus mechanic sorted it with a good plastic AST plus better pressure cap.

After an excellent run back from Newbury (including queing on the M25) there was no coolant pushed out on the garage floor.

So it seems to be a fix. Great

Hi Clive

Well I tried the champagne test but nothing appeared to show. No real white smoke on cold start. It pulls well and starts no problem cold or hot. It was OK before the coolant change and did need a lot of burping. Changed the t/stat which was not opening very much.

It could be the turbos failing but they need changing really.

So jury's out and still a hoot to drive.

Well I've done a sanity check on the caps and they are the right way round. However, it will not hold water in the thermostat filler neck and coolant is coming out of the reservoir at the top. Using a long torch I can see a little overflow hole to the top of the reservoir next to the plastic tube where the dipstick is.

Have been losing coolant lately and been topping up thro the filler neck and noticed that after a run the coolant is dumped on the floor under the reservoir. OK lets not panic then.

To be fair this was after a coolant change and it took some time to burp the engine through.

However when I did another cold fill up though the filler neck the water kept going down and after three top ups water was running onto the floor below the reservoir. The more I put in through the neck the more poured out under the reservoir.

So would this indicate a split reservoir, doggy hose to/from, split expansion tank (although plastic looks ok). Its not easy to see around that area so suggestions would be appreciated before I take the headlamp unit out.

General Technical / UK vs. import spec front windscreen

There are two problems that I have encountered in both my imported RX-7 and MX-6

1) the installers do not have the right Mazda seal/trim. However there is a UK seal/trim that can be used but I don\'t know the detail of it. :o

2) import glass is bronze colour with top shade band and UK manufacture is blue.

In both cases of a broken screen they turned up to fit blue (even though I told them it was bronze) and I turned them away as they shaked their heads muttering 8 weeks to get from Japan. Eventually both screens were made in the UK at huge cost to get the bronze colour - so they try and palm you off with blue.

So with both of the above factors in the mix you can be sure that there will be some :censored::censored::censored::censored: and bull story around until it is sorted after several attempts.

I had to wait months for a screen to be made with a progressive crack across the whole of the bottom of the screen and an impending MOT failure looming.

I\'ve got a set of these complete with both side cards and the central divider but since both grandsons want to ride in the back now I havn\'t been allowed to fit them and will let them go.

They are complete and in good nick.

I need £280 to recover my cost.

Thanks Guys.

Pedal itself seems ok. However i have been driving it every day to the station whilst my MX-6 was being sorted and the problem seems to have gone away for now, and, the car runs better when you use it!

Might just replace that master cylinder in the summer though.

Occasionally the clutch pedal has more travel at the top which changes the bite point.

After a while it goes back to being quite firm at the top of the pedal.

It seems to be doing this more lately. The clutch is nothing fancy.

Any views on this guys - thanks
