3rd generation RX-7's / M854 OFX: Do you own this car??
« on: September 10, 2013, 11:14:12 AM »
Hi folks... my first post in years!

M854 OFX was my old FD and it was written off.

I recently punched the reg into the DVLA  vehicle check out of curiosity and I see it\'s registered again.

Just interested to see how it is now! :)

I have to agree that the S2k is a lot more economical than an FD, not just on petrol but on servicing and spares etc.

I\'ve had both, currently have my S2000 for sale in fact!

FD was quicker in a straight line no doubt about it, mine was a 1995 that was in perfect condition and had no expense spared with replacing worn parts such as bushes.

That being said, I am 100% sure I could get the S2000 around a track quicker than the FD. The S2k has much sharper and more direct handling feel probably due to the newer design and the soundtrack at full chat is also great!

I will say S2k can be a bit twitchy in the wet but no moreso than the FD.

If I had the choice again now I would probably go for the S2000.

I hope that helps!

Mine For Sale!!

I had a bit of a look around this up there... the back end appeared to be held up by a scissor jack?? Awesome height adjustment tool but not so sure it\'ll work on the go!!

Good work though, looks nuts! :)

Well I did have agreed value on the car so fingers crossed there will be no quibbles and I\'ll just get a payout.

The accident could of been so much worse if I was a few metres further back it would of been head on.

The Vectra guy didn\'t have much to say... I only spoke to him to ask if he was alright and then walked away before I gave him a mouthfull!

The rex was pretty much mint. 99% standard (which makes it fairly rare these days!)

Oh well. I had 4 years of enjoyable ownership.

Well, I\'ve been toying with the idea of selling the FD as I simply don\'t use it enough these days.

Anyway, I have a mate who was looking to move on to a new car and I offered to take him out in the FD to give him a taster.

I was driving and chatting to him about it running costs etc.

Take one RX7, add a bell-end in a Vectra driving without due care, mix in a little innocent Golf driver and this is what you\'re left with...

I was behind the vectra, he decided to go for an overtake after tailgating a caravan and pulled out straight into the side of the Golf, the golf lost his steering in the impact and came accross the road and caught my drivers door and rear quarter. I was spun and parked backwards into the verge.

No one involved was injured thankfully.

So there is now one less mint origonal FD on the roads of Dorset.

Probably the same cure as the FD... wrap some electrical tape around the loop that the boot lid locks onto.

I\'ve put a feedback page on teh DJCS website, I\'d be hugely grateful if you could just dro pover and leave feedback for me to build on.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Nice to see you again Martin, Adam, Jo if only very briefly but it was one of the busiest days I\'ve had in my life. I missed you Bob but did spot the car!

I put a massive amount of work into the day (basically the last 6 months!) and it worked out very well with no major issues so I am over the moon!

After a tally up today I know there were about 1600 people in attendance and roughly 700 cars so a pretty good turn out for a first time show!

I\'m 99% sure it\'ll be back next year bigger and better and I hope that it\'ll have a bit more support from the rotary community!

Rob. :)

Just one week left for advance ticket sales and club bookings!

If you buy in advance and state the club name to which you belong providing there are 10 or more you will automatically be grouped together on your own stand!

You can just turn up on the day and buy tickets on the gate and still exhibit your car if you wish in the spacious \'Japanese Parking\' area. There will be ample room so you won\'t have to worry about doors getting knocked or anything like that!

It\'s looking to be an awesome day with more clubs and people buying tickets by the hour!!

What more could you want from a show!!! 100\'s of superb Japanese cars & bikes on display, 6 live bands playing, Funfair with rides and amusements for all ages, climbing wall, bouncy castles, face painting for the kiddies (and the less mature adults!!), Rolling road supplied by RE:Worx for dyno runs, Fire Brigade rescue demonstrations, Show & Shine Comp, Traders, Great food & drink, Licensed bar... something for everyone be they 2 years old or 80 years old!!

This will be a cracking day out and I look forward to seeing you there.

STOP PRESS: While it may not be to everyone’s taste there is no denying a truly unique eye catching vehicle is going to be raffled at the event. For the small price of just £20.00 per ticket you could be driving away at the end of the day in the one off \'HELLBOUND\' !!!
For more info look here:

So far 2 cars booked in for the MRC, ideally require 10 so you get your own dedicated club stand so just 8 more needed.

It\'s very simple to purchase tickets, you can pay with card or paypal. Just follow the link below, type in Mazda Rotary Club where prompted, type in how many cars you are booking in then hit the \'Buy Now\' button. On the next screen just enter how many entry tickets you require and buy your tickets!

All tickets & passes will be posted out to you about 2 weeks before the event.

I will also be at Rotorstock at the weekend so I\'ll be touting there and happy to chat with anyone about the event!! :D

Feel free to contact me if you are unsure about anything.

Can I ask how much you paid for it as it\'s much the same as mine and I\'ve been wondering about current value?

I should be able to come to that one as I can mix a show with my camping holiday........which just happens to be just down the road from the venue (once I find a campsite that is and slowly break the news to the other half!!). Deviance is brill when it works out.

Not sure if you located it but there is a page on the website with a list of campsites:
