Now that the project car has gone i have an FD gearbox that came out of the donor car. The car was standard with just under 60k miles so the gearbox is very good. £175 collected, it also has a short shifter included.
I also have an uprated single plate clutch which has very little use and is in very good condition, i will get pics up later
£150, will send but at buyers cost
I also have a good complete fuel tank if anybody want one too.
well whoever told you that is wrong. the selector mechanism and gear gates dont have any connection with the condition of the gears, bearings and seals inside the box which a rebuild would sort (unless something is actually snapped of course). This was T2REW\'s (Jason) box that he had rebuilt. There is a bush at the bottom of the shifter that wears houe which can cause it or the spring breaks. Both common but very simple issues to sort.
the is a little wire spring on the side of the box just behind a little square metal plate that is bolted to the side of the selector box. I dont think i have a spare spring as i put the one from the spare gearbox i have into the box you have. if you need any more give me a call
i have recently removed the swirl flaps on three 3 litre BMW\'s and they were all quite oily in the inlet track although half an egg cup sounds like a lot for each trip. We used to have a Nissan Elgrand which was a 3.2 turbo diesel and i changed the split inlet hose in that and the pipes were all quite oily to. How old is it? mileage?
Also, is it the boosted side of the inlet between the turbo and the engine or between the air filter and the turbo?
Hi Mark. Some of the later series 5 engines had more metal around the top dowel point just by the oil filter. The earlier ones could crack when running more power. The later FD engines all had the stronger block. I think Prof on here cracked his rear plate. The stronger rear plates are quite rare. The engine is from a 1989 - 92 car which in this country were called turbo II. The engine has 2 inlet ports per chamber(rotor) and one exhaust port. The manifold feeds air into each inlet, the 2 smaller ones are called the primaries and have the standard 550cc injectors, the secondary which are bigger ports have the 2 secondary injectors which are 1000cc. I think the other questions have been answered but if there is anything else you need give me a call if you like.
