Rotary and General Chit-Chat / Worldwide 7's Day
« on: July 09, 2019, 08:05:18 PM »
Looks like the UK missed the boat or we forgot all about it! but with pictures coming in from Japan, Finland, Netherlands, Sydney, New York, California and South Africa,  no pictures from 7's day here in the UK

Having looked at next year 7th July falls on a Tuesday, so any thoughts about putting on a gathering of RX7's somewhere?

As per the title we had an invite to Belgravia Square.

As you can imagine I was the only Rotary there and only one of maybe four Japanese cars there out of 2-300 invited cars!

Many of you know, I like many types of car especially the unusual  and  there were many cars there that I had never seen in pictures, plus of course more Henry's and debutantes  than you could shake a stick at.

All in all it must have been one of the most expensive assembled car collections for one day ever! and all joking aside, it was an amazing event.

They even had Dame Joan Collins there presenting the two awards. Poor souls obviously couldn't afford any more trophy's once they had paid for the  Champers  :))

Must admit, as you will see, I loved the slogan on one of the benches

All joking aside, it was a truly amazing event.

Received this message on Facebook - not sure if it is of interest to anyone?

I’m contacting you as the CSCC would like to giveaway a number of free tickets to The Mazda Rotary Club for any of our UK race meetings this year, as well as possibly arranging dedicated group parking and parade laps during a break in the racing action at our UK events for your members.

The CSCC is one of the UK’s leading motor racing organisers, with ten different series racing at the best circuits in the UK. New for 2019 is the Mazda RX-8 Trophy which has been met with strong interest. The concept is ultra affordable racing in a RX-8 that has to be MOT’d and therefore could be driven to and from the circuit or even as a daily driver. We would like to welcome your members trackside to see the action in the trophy’s debut season, with your members also being able to get a closer look at the cars in the paddock.

I hope to hear from you soon, and hopefully look forward to seeing your members’ trackside in 2019.
Best regards

Rotary and General Chit-Chat / Wow Old Skool Jap car prices !

Some may have thought that Carls RX-3 was a lot of money, but when I was at WGT yesterday this one surprised me, yes its rare but!

Yes anything is only worth what someone is prepared to pay but this car has actually sold.

Yes its a real pretty car but a quick walk around showed rot in the door and at the base of the screen all just painted over, plus it has been a track day car with a removed weld in cage, so its far from a showroom car, the bit that surprised me was the car has just sold for £200K, it's not even a Datsun colour  !

First car is the car, second picture is a library picture

I got to say, I've always liked a 240Z because when I was an apprentice with Mazda, along with RX-2's, 3' & 4s  I  also worked on these as many  Mazda dealers also sold Datsun's because they came over on the boat together.

This amused me :) Apparently they are going to put him in something a little bigger so the cars bounce off  ;)
