Rotary and General Chit-Chat / Help.... any suggestions welcome!!
« on: July 15, 2012, 10:52:36 PM »
Right, unfortunatly this is bit of a grumble with a person who used to be highly active on here (not going to mention any names as things always take a turn for the worse and thread gets closed down!)

Basicaly the guy in quiestion wanted a shell a friend was selling (4 years ago) so I bought a rolling shell (that had an engine in), and draged it accross the south of wales, and east along the M4 for him.... the deal was, I bought the car and he would use the 600 payed as a deposit for building the engine (I\'d pay the difference on collection)

Now 4 years on, I managed to get the engine deliverd to Era so the rebuild is underway, but parts were missing from the engine (some of which have turned up with Era and some not :( ) but now I\'m short of cash and trying to get hold of the person in question who has been messing me around for so long..... and it\'s proving impossible!! I know he works away for long periods of time training etc. but I\'m starting to get a little :censored::censored::censored::censored:ed off now to say the least, as the engine is getting close to compleation, but need to find the money to pay the remaining bill!!

Can anyone sujest anything, as I think I have been more than resonable!!??

Is it just me or are other people suffering the same as me??
The last 12 months all my motoring passion has been sucked out of me (possibly due to the MR2!!) but my pride in my cars has totaly gone :( the RX hasn\'t realy been looked at for 12 months.... quick wash and that\'s it, not clay bared, polished and waxed like I used to, the MR2 hasn\'t actualy been washed in over 12 months let alone seen any polishing.

Think I need to get my priorities sorted, finish the house, then get the Rex up and ready to use for the summer I think..... hopefuly with my new "Oldone racing" rebuilt engine, then finish the Hilux and get rid of the dirty homo MR2 that\'s sucking my passion dry!!

Rotary and General Chit-Chat / suspention spring dimentions....
« on: September 17, 2011, 07:46:51 PM »
Guys, have any of you got a set of springs you could measure up for us please??
I\'m trying to find a set of springs that I can fit to my drift XJ6, but can\'t stretch to uprated Jag parts, as they want your wallet & your bum hole as payment :(

the important diamimesion is the spring width, which is 120mm for the front and 140 for the rear..... std uprated jag springs are about 220lb, but they would be a bit soft for drift, so if the RX ones are the right size and if anyone has got some silly stiff springs they want shot of..... let me know ;)

« on: September 12, 2011, 11:59:55 AM »
Hi guys, I\'m trying to get my hands on a second hand set of coil overs for my drift truck!! Has anyone got any coilovers they have changed (for better brand or through damage) that they want shot of?
basicaly I am going to be making custom suspension arms for the truck so I could use prety much anything as I\'ll have to make new mounts and brackets etc.

If anyone could help me out, that would be ace,

Like the title says, if you live near Elton, Peterborough and able to help me that would be ace!!

Basicaly I have bought an inlet manifold and carb for a V8 through ebay (but final purchase was private and not ebay) since then I\'ve been trying to get the guy to pack and weigh the manifold so I can arange for collection, but he hasn\'t done so and it\'s been 3 weeks!! Aparently its sat on the shelf in his garage, but hasn\'t had time to sort it out for me.... so would someone be willing to pop around and pick it up for me, and then I can deal with a reliable person to pack it ready for collection!!
Hope someone can help out as I\'m getting a little worried that I\'ve been taken for a fool, but then it could be the fact that he let it go for less than half what it\'s worth and trying to fob me off to resell?!

Cheers in advance

General Technical / oil pressure doing odd things!!
« on: July 01, 2011, 09:54:38 PM »
Right, I only noticed this the other day..... oil pressure has dropped a little, she has had a recent oil change (so could be the oil used as mineral isn\'t available anymore :( )
But anyway.... when I\'m driving along the oil pressure on my Apexi gauge is sat at 2.5 bar, but when I lift off the throttle it raises to 3 bar!!

Any ideas? I know the oil pressure sensor was in an accident and was damaged, so not sure how accurate it is now..... but anyway even if it is reading incorrect, it would still show any fluctuations in pressure!!

General Technical / Water Injection question?
« on: May 05, 2011, 09:37:51 AM »
I know this is probably going to be an obvious answer, but I just want to clarify things!!

Basicaly I am fitting water injection to a 2.0 Turbo Vauxhall 8v engine.... the engine is running 250cc injectors and by the net calculations to get the 10% W/F ratio mix I should be looking at pumping in 100cc/min in to the engine..... now here is the thing, I\'m going to be going pre turbo with the water so does this change the jet size?? also the jet I\'ve got is a 50cc/min unit, so what would the afect be running this.... would it just be I\'m not getting as good a result as I could???

General Technical / Subframe advice??
« on: April 07, 2011, 11:34:26 PM »
Guys, my FD is starting to show surface rust on the rear subframe...... Now I\'m planning on dropping it our to clean it up and waxoil the floor pan under it while everything is out, but the thing is, I\'ve thought about getting the subframe galvanised, and then painting it red...... what are your thoughts on the galvanising front??? never have any rot issues with it again!

Rotary and General Chit-Chat / Wohoo, another 12 month ticket today:)
« on: April 07, 2011, 11:30:16 PM »
MOT time and she passed :)
didn\'t want to go as she has been stood for about 4 months! but she went straight through the MOT, although I have 2 advises:
1. Front tyres perished and need replacing
2. the fuel lines are starting to rust

So, plan is to drop the fuel tank, change the filter, braided fuel lines front to rear, drop the rear subframe and polly bush (or delrin) it, clean up the subframe (might actualy get it galvanised??) and paint it red or something, then wax oil the rear end while everything is out. Once that is done, I\'ll do the same on the front end when the engine swap kicks off!

General Technical / Delrin bushes or not for FD??
« on: March 03, 2011, 02:04:14 PM »
Guys, I\'m needing to get new bushes on the FD and polly bushes are just soooooo expensive for what they are! So I\'ve been looking about and come accross some Delrin bushes from the US, but the thing is what are they like to live with?? The car isn\'t used regularly, just a good weather blaster and shows when I can get to them! But my only issue is that in the add it stated that they are one short of ally bushes so would it end up shaking me and the car apart or worth the buy??

Like the title says guys, is there anything in anti freeze that will afect the paint or metal work on a car body?
reason I ask is I\'m getting a little peed off buying de icer as it only lasts a few days and you don\'t get much out of a can...... so what I was thinking is, if anti freeze doesn\'t afect the paint I was going to put some in a little squirty bottle & use than instead.... would need less of it and it also works out alot cheeper too!!
