3rd generation RX-7's / M854 OFX: Do you own this car??
« on: September 10, 2013, 11:14:12 AM »
Hi folks... my first post in years!

M854 OFX was my old FD and it was written off.

I recently punched the reg into the DVLA  vehicle check out of curiosity and I see it\'s registered again.

Just interested to see how it is now! :)

3rd generation RX-7's / End Of An Era
« on: September 13, 2009, 05:04:15 PM »
Well, I\'ve been toying with the idea of selling the FD as I simply don\'t use it enough these days.

Anyway, I have a mate who was looking to move on to a new car and I offered to take him out in the FD to give him a taster.

I was driving and chatting to him about it running costs etc.

Take one RX7, add a bell-end in a Vectra driving without due care, mix in a little innocent Golf driver and this is what you\'re left with...

I was behind the vectra, he decided to go for an overtake after tailgating a caravan and pulled out straight into the side of the Golf, the golf lost his steering in the impact and came accross the road and caught my drivers door and rear quarter. I was spun and parked backwards into the verge.

No one involved was injured thankfully.

So there is now one less mint origonal FD on the roads of Dorset.

I would like to invite all members of MRC to the first annual Dorset Japanese Car Show (DJCS).

The show is to take place on Sunday 2nd August 2009 at the Canford Park Arena near Poole in Dorset. CPA is a purpose built venue which is ideally suited for this type of event.

With over 100 car clubs invited it\'s going to be a car packed day with the finest Japanese cars from the last 40 years on display.

The show will feature something for everyone:

  • Car Club stands
  • Bike Club stands
  • Traders
  • Rolling road (supplied by RE: Worx)
  • Funfair with attractions for all ages (including the ever favorite Dodgems!)
  • Professional stage
  • 6 live bands
  • Show & shine contest with £1000\'s worth of top prizes and trophys)
  • Great food & drink
  • Licenced Bar
  • Fire Brigade rescue demonstrations

And much much more!

The newly revamped Redline magazine will be covering the event.

In order to have an MRC club stand all that is required is a minimum of 10 advance tickets and stand passes are bought. If fewer than 10 cars attend then they will still be able to display thier cars on the \'Mixed Club\' stand.

Stand passes will not be issued on the gate so it is essential that advance tickets are purchased if you want to display your car.

Advance tickets are just £6.50 each and if a single purchase of 10 or more is made a free ticket will be included (buy 10 get one free). Tickets on the gate will be £9.00.

Ideally an MRC club member will take control of organising this but if not you can still each buy tickets via the website, just ensure you state the club name when purchasing to ensure you are all put together!

You should find all the information you require on the website but if you have any questions then please don\'t hesitate to ask me!

It\'s going to be a fantastic day for all of the family so get your tickets booked and come along!!

Rob. :)

Why bother!! Just remember how great they look as clean standard. :)

It\'s only a matter of time before standard cars value starts heading back up ;)

Had a quick wash and wax this morning.

This is a clip from a late 70\'s early 80\'s Japanese show called "Seibu Keisatsu".

There are quite a few clips on Youtube if you can find them featuring loads of lovely old Japanese tin!

Enjoy :)

General Technical / Smoke rising from brake fluid area
« on: December 14, 2008, 11:26:55 AM »
Just taken the car out after it\'s been stood for a week or so and noticed smoke coming from the side of the bonnet when stopped in traffic. The car hadn\'t even really warmed up.

Drove straight back and popped the bonnet.

Smoke is rising from what looks to be the righthand side of the brake fluid resivoir, or from the big black round thing just behind it.

It doesn\'t look to be coming from anywhere lower than this area.

Any suggestions??

3rd generation RX-7's / Some more recent pictures
« on: September 12, 2008, 03:35:18 AM »
I thought I\'d share a few pictures taken this year of my FD.

I think it\'s getting to be a pretty rare RX7 as it is pretty much standard apart from a back box and ally rad. I had the wheels refurbed a while back and they are holding up fairly well.

I would love to have another rex with silly power but as I struggle to justify owning this one most of the time I will stick with it! (it does feel so rapid after a couple of weeks of pottering in a 1.5l civic!! I\'d recommend it to anyone who feels they are needing more power but can\'t afford it!!)

Anyway. here are some pictures. :)
