3rd generation RX-7's / Freddy\'s Border Racing Twin Single Turbo RX-7
« on: August 10, 2010, 03:37:52 PM »
Good afternoon people!

Long over due post. Put this thread on FDUK but to share with those on here.

It\'s well beyond the time of year where we all bring our fd’s out of hibernation. For me, I’m intending on spending at least some part of this summer in the Border Racing twin single turbo’ed FD whilst still trying to decide whether or not actually sell the beast after over five years of ownership.

Car was MOT’d recently through the courtesy of Thames Valley MOT and looking back at past MOT’s. I’ve driven the car a mere 2600 kms over the past five years!

Engine was recently built and ported some seven months ago by Oldone Racing and nicely put together and painted by Super 7 auto\'s! Last dyno session in 2007 the car made circa 505 BHP flywheel. With the engine ported for further flow, here’s hoping once I eventually run in the car - Era can meet me at Reworx to see just what exactly Max or Geoff can churn out of the latest set up.

Below is a brief spec, along with some pictures I took – albeit the car had not been washed for two weeks as seen by the muck on the wheels and windows! All comments are welcome. A brief history of the car, it was owned and built previously by a Border Racing Japan engine tuner. The turbo kit was specially commissioned to Apexera by Border Racing and I believe a total of twenty units were only ever manufactured solely for Border Racing so the set up is utmost unique to say the least. Exterior has been purposefully left modest with the Border vented bonnet and Regamaster’s giving a little hint of this sleeper’s nature with most emphasis on driveability, handling and power.

Having driven highly modified FD’s, the set up below really does place the car’s responsiveness in the realms of that of stock twin turbo cars, minimal lag but(!) the power just keeps coming and coming. :D

Thanks for reading and look forward to any comments, criticisms.  :)

Fortunate to drive one of the FD\'s after a long while at the weekend. Drove up from London to Manchester on Fri, picked up the beast and then down again for Rotorstock the same day. Worth the wait seeing as the car won Best FD trophy at Rotorstock. :D

Still amazed just how well a sorted FD handles, excellent grip and feels as thou its on rails around the bends. After some 17 years, there are a few cars to come out of Japan to provide a similar feel to drive.

Anyway, took some novice pics yesterday. No full spec list and just pics of the exterior. However, to summarise - Car is a very low mileage 1999 Type RS model with bigger brakes etc in Mazda innocent mica blue. Strapped to the large ported engine is a HKS T51R Kai turbo with other supporting modifications allowing it to enter the 500 BHP + member list. :cool

Look forward to all thoughts and comments guys, meanwhile I\'ll be uploading interior and engine shots later today. :)

3rd generation RX-7's / A Picture of Your RX-7 - Everyone!
« on: May 26, 2009, 09:42:02 PM »
Evening guys,

Following on from the how many FD\'s thread.

http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55550

I was having a conversation with another member a few days back and despite having had a serious number of FD\'s pass my hands, it is often rare to see the car again! I dont know if any of you guys have experienced the same but I think the same goes for cars I\'ve seen for sale by Newera, Brian Ellis etc in the past. Nice cars, but once sold - never seen again. Theres a similar thread to this over on RX7 Club and it allowed members and past owners to see just where and how their car is now.

So come on guys, a thread to see a pic or two of YOUR car or an FD you\'ve owned.  As often - not everyone can make it to an event!

3rd generation RX-7's / Freddy\'s HKS Prepared Single Turbo RX-7
« on: May 24, 2009, 04:34:43 PM »
Well, a short trip back home after many months allowed me to enjoy the FD\'s. Except this is now going to be for someone else to enjoy now as its going up for sale soon!

Purchased whilst I was out in Japan, genuine 25000 miles and 1 owner from new. The car is fully built by HKS Tokyo and running a modified HKS Engine & Single Turbo. All other supporting modifications with a genuine KS (makers of Burnout kit) bodykit and for those that love em, a carbon BGW!!

Below is a brief overview of what I can remember and some sub standard pics seen as the car hadnt been washed in months and was a little dirty! I think FD\'s like these are hard to come by now especially in near new underfloor, exterior and interior condition etc.

Anyway, do let me know your thoughts and comments guys meanwhile I\'ll try and figure out just what its worth. :)

3rd generation RX-7's / Sell The Border Racing Track Toy?
« on: January 08, 2009, 12:06:19 AM »
Well, have had a period of absence due to other commitments taking up most of my everyday for the next few years so thinking of parting with some of the toys. Having had this for many years now and not made much use of it. It just isnt being used enough to warrant being parked on the drive anylonger. Think it maybe worthy of someone who will utilise it to its full potential. I believe there are very very few proper Jap spec track RX-7\'s out there fully prepared for circuit usage with complete genuine JDM parts fitted from bottom to top!

Although not too sure what the current market would fetch!?

Below are some pictures and spec of my circuit car. Hopefully, it will see more action in the not too distant future. ;)

Well, after being stored for much time and only covering a mere 10 miles in the last year coupled with spending only a few days at home each month. Think it\'s either time to make changes or either sell. The two choices are the very reason why the car is still parked up. Really unsure what to do! What would you do!?

Taken from RX7 Club.

The owner of the fastest 13B Powered starlet in the world "Anais" was killed last wednesday by uknown killers in a race car shop in san juan at 10:45 pm. Two unknown guys armed with AR15 assault rifles and ski masks stormed the building by surprise. They told him to lay down on the floor then open fired and hit him with 25 rounds, most of them in the head. Robery was dismissed from the investigation because the victim had $9689.12 cash on his person.
