RX-8's / Do I get one again?!
« on: April 08, 2019, 09:56:48 PM »
So my current 120D BMW has blown up (not just rotary's ey!)
Locally have found a RX8 PZ for sale...

Claims to have no Hot or Cold start issues, has the d585 ignition coil kit and has a MOT until January 2020, full Mazda service history up to 65,000 Miles and now on 82k. "no additives in the fuel and always kept the right amount of oil in it" but "serviced it every couple thousand miles, only a Sunday drive car kinda thing so it’s had an easy life" MOT history looks good with only minor things like tyres, a bulb and pads and disks in the past

Wondering weather to go for it or to stay away. Always unsure when it's not a rotor head. Hearts telling me yes, heads telling me no...

It's a Galaxy Grey, Reg HG56 NRK, don't know if anyone on here has owned it before? The current owners had it for 3 years.

I'm coming to terms that the FC may never get rebuilt as I don't have the cash, so wondering if this will relight my rotary flame as such! haha

What do you guys and gals think? Should I go for it? Recommendations for what to look for if I go and have a look?

Cars for Sale / '90 Mazda RX7 Turbo II FC3S - £2,500 ono - Swansea
« on: December 16, 2014, 09:51:34 PM »
Selling my FC RX7 soon, posting it on here before a lot of places as would prefer it to go to a enthusiast or someone who will look after it!

1990 Mazda RX7 FC3S Turbo II S5 in White
Just below 78,000 miles. Around 9 or 10 months MOT (Will double check when I dig out the certificate!)
99-116 FC's left on the road so getting rare now! 4 Models, 7 different colours, 3-5 left in white maybe?!
It's near enough standard, the only changes are an aftermarket air filter which was fitted before I got it as well as a powerflow exhaust. Not too loud or much bigger then the standard ones!

Interior is all standard, even down to the original tape player(!) except for the steering wheel, not my cup of tea but didn't bother me too much. Some random aftermarket one which is red and black, again fitted before I got it. The monkey that fitted it has also buggered up the standard surround for the column, may bother the picky person! The drivers seat has a tare in the bolster so a seat cover is on it. As you guessed, from before! I have just left the cover on and it doesn't bother me! If you want to be picky the little cover covering the screws for the interior light has fallen off but I still have it. The interior light has gone, probably just a bulb! The rear wiper and sunroof don't work but I haven't looked at these.

Exterior, all standard. Standard wheels with good tyres, all the S5 trims. The paintwork has seen better days and would benefit from a full respray, or you could just do the parts that look bad. I hate the bonnet because a chip has slowly become a large patch of paint missing, been quoted £120 to get it resprayed. The front bumper has some lacquer peal as well as little bits on the front arches. The offside headlight cover is a aftermarket one with a vent, fitted by a previous owner, looks like its been sprayed with a air can so the match and finish isn't the best. The nearside side skirt has started to come off this last week, the trim clips are buggered so it would be best to bond this back on, I can do it or let you do it as you see fit.

Engine is all standard except for the air filter. The A/C belt has been removed, the A/C doesn't work so I look it off as it seemed a little pointless running the A/C pump for no reason! The engine is starting to show signs of the tips going, it starts 2nd or 3rd time rather then first but has never not started if thats makes sense? 200hp of which I'm sure most of it is still there, pulls lovely right through the rev range, sounds lovely. The turbo spools fine as the twin scroll keeps it going for ages. I service it as close to 3,000 miles or 4 months as I can, this is coming up soon. The coolant could do with changing a few times to flush it out and clean it up, I've changed it 3 times in a year and a half but the dirty parts just make the coolant dirty again, hence the flush. The level buzzer also seems to have a mind of it's own which a few people have had problems with, just make sure you check the fluids regularly like with any rotary! It has a battery cover which is rare! Haha. The front pads are Green Stuff which are a little better then usual but nothing to be shouting about too much!

The reg is also 'HAHA'!

Overall I would say it's a usable project. I love this car and don't want to see it go but money problems mean it has to go. I would like the new owner to promise me when they sell it on that they offer it to me first!!! The fact my computer crashed after writing all this and I lost it all is making me think I'm making a bad decision!

More then happy for people to come to Swansea and view. I can take you out for a drive but no test drivers, sorry people in the past have ruined this!!!

There is probably stuff I have forgotten but can't think of it at the moment! Sorry the photos are all previous photos that I have of the car, I will take some when I'm hope when it's not dark and I get a chance to clean it!

£2,500 ono No swaps (Unless its a FB...)

Anything Engine/Performance/Tuning related / FC Belts
« on: July 07, 2014, 12:41:31 AM »
So today my power steering belt decided to snap... I pulled over straight away and popped the bonnet to put out any part of the belt before it caused any other problems. I noticed that the A/C belt is twisted and is sat incorrectly on the bottom pulley, I know it wasn\'t like this a few weeks ago when I gave it a mini service. The A/C doesn\'t work, I was going to take it off and put it back on properly and keep an eye on it to see if it happens again. Has anyone else had this problem?

General Technical / Sand/Clay in my paintwork
« on: April 25, 2014, 02:50:03 PM »
I\'ve had my car parked outside a friends workshop for just under a month now while waiting for parts and doing various things do it.
Unfortunatley the surface outside is a bit sandy/clay, like a orange dusty track. It seems that some of this has stuck to my paintwork, mainly on the top of the back bumper where the number place lights are, as you can imagine on a white car this doesn\'t look great.
I\'ve given it a good wash with a autoglym shampoo/polish mixture and its better but it\'s still there. Anyone got any ideas or suggestions on how to get rid of this?!
This is a picture of my bumper as its stands now...

Rotary and General Chit-Chat / RX7 Register?
« on: April 09, 2014, 08:01:53 PM »
Hey everyone.
Just been looking around on How Many Left at the RX7\'s and was just wondering if there was a register at all? I\'ve noticed there\'s a FC one (even though it\'s private, I can\'t get in there).
If theres not a complete one I would be quite interested to find out who/what/where all 758 cars on the road are. Thought it would be quite interesting!
Rough figures I\'ve just looked at;
758 RX7\'s

-68 FB\'s
-120.5 FC\'s
-567.5 FD\'s

--2 S1\'s
--25 S2\'s
--41 S3\'s
--32 S4\'s
--88.5 S5\'s
--468.5 S6\'s
--59 S7\'s
--40 S8\'s
(As FCs and FDs were both produced in \'91 I just halved the number (23) and used for each one, please correct me if I\'m wrong)

Wheels & Tyres, Suspension & Brakes / FC spacers for standard wheels

Has anyone just fitted spacers to the standard FC S5 wheels? Any recommendations on what size spaces to use?

General Technical / What are these mirrors?!
« on: January 16, 2014, 09:59:42 AM »
Hi Everyone,
Fairly new owner of a FC RX7. The car came with these mirrors when I brought them and one has a missing mirror. There are a couple mirrors that came with the car but these are standard and black, so not ideal!
Does anyone know what make these mirrors are? And where I can get a replacement glass?
I did get one of those \'cut to your shape\' flexy glass things off ebay, but it was too thin and unless it\'s on a flat surface, I wouldn\'t recomend them!
Heres the pictures:

General Technical / New FC Owner: Couple Questions
« on: September 19, 2013, 08:27:46 AM »
Hi Everyone,
I\'ve just brought a FC3S and real happy with it! Followed a guide online for purchasing and everything seems brilliant. Odd few things that need sorting but they were in the add so I knew about them.

Anyway! Its come with a Mazda Fast Line alarm on it. I\'ve got 2 fobs with 1 button on each. Question is, how to alarm it (I know I should of asked the old owner!). If I press the button on the fob after locking the car the indicators flash but is this correctly set? Do I just push it again to turn it off? Not 100% Sure! The code on the back of the fobs is \'MPT 1340\' if that makes any difference.

Next question. Mirror glass, the passenger one is missing but I\'ve got a pair of mirrors in the boot with the glass in. How do I take the glass out? I don\'t want to go yeahar\'ing on it and breaking the glass but am unsure of any other way. Anyone taken them off before?

Thanks in advance!
