3rd generation RX-7's / Project Rewire - LinkEcu G4 Storm
« on: September 29, 2013, 10:17:05 AM »
Been squirrelling away quite a bit recently after suffering wiring issues with the car. The age of the wiring is now getting on and all the minor issues I\'ve had have come down to the wiring in the car.

I\'ve decide to replace the apexi with a more modern ECU and after extensive reading I\'ve gone for a LinkECU G4 Storm.

The main aim is to remove a lot of the ancillaries, such as the boost controller, the twin spark, the electric water pump controller, the Water injection controller and get a more comprehensive data logging system.

Currently I have the ECU with a 2.5m loom kit, I\'ve ordered some AEM smart coils. I\'ve ordered as many of the replacement OEM plugs I can find and bought the recommend sensors for water temp and air temp that Link suggest. I\'ve bought a solid state relay for the PWM control of my water pump and I\'ve got one of Edd\'s Engine EWP adapter.

Plans are a foot !

Long time since I\'ve been to the last one, looks like quite a good Rx8 group attend this now.

Would be interesting to get a mini meet in before the weather goes sour !

1st generation RX-7's / 1985 S3 FB Breaking.
« on: July 29, 2013, 02:37:29 PM »
Its with a heavy heart I have started to break the 1st gen.

The aim is to pull off all the stuff worth any real money and scrap the shell.

Anybody wishing to pick the shell up for scrap value is more than welcome if they want to save it from the scrappies.

If you need any parts, bar the stuff that would stop me rolling the shell round then feel free to post on this thread.

Main bits so far getting pulled out of the car this week for sale are as follows :

17in Team Dynamics Wheels - With almost new Kuhmo tyres, could do with a repaint, powder coating is looking a little rough. Looking for £250 plus postage (usually about £40)

Engine - 12a comes with alternator, water pump and oil cooler (S2 type). Looking for £150, would need to be picked up due to weight.

S4 Gearbox with S3 Tail - Good for mpg or Cars with more grunt (Taller 5th gear). Looking for around £80, again pickup preferable.

Uprated Radiator - Rebuilt with extra capacity, comes with Electric fan and electronic fan controller. Looking for £150.

Moonroof - Gold tint glass sunroof. Looking for at least £200 for this because they are rare !

LPG Kit - This will probably end up on ebay !

I\'ve got to the point I can\'t leave the FB in the back garden any longer.

I\'m looking at selling all the major bits and then scrapping the shell. If anybody needs any parts to keep their FB going please don\'t hesitate to ask.

I\'ll add parts to the thread as I get to them.

Right, back to this time of year again. Has anybody booked hotel rooms for Japfest yet ??

I\'ll be bringing the FD on a Trailer so can somebody reconmend me a good place to stop.

Last Years hotel didn\'t seem too bad, not sure I\'d get down the track into the carpark though !

Items For Sale / FS - FB S3 13b LPG - Blown Engine
« on: December 15, 2012, 03:30:29 PM »
After Looking at the rotors I got out of Stu\'s engine I can\'t see me putting the car back together any time soon. They may be salvagable but most of the seals are stuck in the rotor.

Car is currently SORN and the MOT ran out Dec 12th.

The cars spec is has the following :

Black Shell with full Interior, standard Grey. All in reasonable condition. Rust wise its in good condition under the car with some small rust bubbles in different places. Nothing too major. Panel behind fuel tank needs replacing to pass a MOT. Gold Tint Moonroof (very rare)

Engine bay has an uprated double radiator, T2 oil cooler (all lines included). Stock ignition (can supply a microtech ECI and all parts needed for £300 extra). Will Supply all needed apart from a complete engine.

The master and slave clutch cylinder was replaced very recently. Clucth and flywheel is also nearly new and in very good condition. Starter motor was refurbished less than 6 months ago and looks and runs like brand new.

Will include all parts needed to start the car on LPG, Impco Carb and Vapouriser.

Engine parts will be all the parts from the original engine that suffered bearing failure and 2 exta housings and Plates and crankshaft from Stu\'s Engine. This will include a GSLE sump to allow a 12a front cover on a 13b engine.

Suspension wise the car was fully polybushed a few years ago and the rear dampers where replaced last year. Brand new front dampers will be included in the deal, but need to be fitted.

Car has S4 Gearbox to give better motorway mpg. Fitted in last 12 months and runs very well.

The Differential was reburbished a few years ago and is all in good condition.

Brakes are all in good condition. Rears where replaced when I first bought the car. Approx 45k miles ago.

17in Team Dynamics Alloy Wheels with very good condition Tyres (Fronts nearly new, rears loads of tread left). I\'ll include a set of original 14in wheels too, tyres may not be legal though.

Car was in a small incident and I replaced the front bumper, the passenger wing and front panel. It was all repainted to match original colour. There is some obvious panel swappage in the engine bay. Headlights can get out of sync on occasion but I saw it more with it being my daily driver.

All in all its hard to say what the value of the car really is but im looking for £600 ovno.

Just reading Eureka (get it free every month) and came across an interesting new rotary engine !

Enjoy :
