Anything Engine/Performance/Tuning related / Apexi Power FC: help on changing settings after reset to base map

I've finally 90% sure i've sorted my smoking fc issue.

Now my Power FC was mapped on large street ports T04R size tub. It is now on stock ports after a rebuild with a BW S300 turbo.
I think a base map would be better than the remap as its running a bit rich.

I've found how to revert back to base map
[etc.] -> [All Data Init.]

From the base map, How do i set the secondary injectors to 1600cc (or were they 1680cc?) and how to calculate the latency for the larger injectors?
Are there any other settings i need to amend?

Setup:
BW S300 turbo
GM 3 Bar map sensor
Greddy compression tube
stock ports
FD AIT (i think)
stock primary 550cc
bosch 1600cc (or 1680cc) secondary
3" DP back, de-cat
AP Eng Power FC

I just need to make it less rich to help with MOT then as soon as its on the road i will be planning to get a proper map as engine has been run in now.

General Technical / Coolant system and LIM related?

I read on another forum (1) the following:

"Intake manifold where it attaches to engine block. There is a seal between the two and coolant passages inside going between the intake and engine. The seal gets weak and starts letting coolant into the combustion chamber. That went on mine. $10 fix but a bit of a pain."

How does the LIM and coolant passage relate to each other? I cant see how the LIM would come in contact with coolant passage.

Anyone can shine any light?

General Technical / Smokey smokey cause?

I think i know the answer to this but what else can cause excessive smokey exhaust.
Its not a sweet smoke from water leak but a dirty smelling one and theres oil in the downpipe. Fitted new turbo and dp was cleaned so definitely oil burn.

I originally thought was bearings gone in turbo so turbo was rebuilt. still had oil and smokey so thought bad turbo and bought new one (borg warner). and still have this problem.

Only other thing i can think of is its coming from the engine. So does this mean its the oil control ring?

engine 2 years old, only ran 500 mile run-in. been sat for a year as smoke happened last year but i didnt have time to do anything with it.

i\'m guessing this means another rebuild engine?

General Technical / Fuel pressure drop and wont start.

Hi hi,

Setup: kgrail secondary rail, 1680cc inj. oem primary rail, 550cc inj. sard fpr. bosch 044 fuel pump.

(see vid for quicker explanation)

I\'ve replaced the secondary fuel rail on my fc with an aftermarket one. There was a vac line going into the oem secondary rail (think coming from the block?) which i have blocked off as the kgrail does not need vac line plugged in.

The fuel pump primes and holds 1.1kg/cm^3 but when cranking the engine over, after a couple of seconds the fuel pressure drops to zero until i stop cranking which it returns to 1.1kg/cm^3.

Would this have something to do with the blocked off vac line? Should that be plugged into the fpr?

There is already a vac line from frp to the block.

General Technical / Full marmon to half marmon adapter?

More help needed

I\'ve replaced my turbo and the new turbo has a full marmon flange, dp is half marmon flange. Are there adaptors available so i can mate the 2 together? or anyone know any place in uk where i can get a (female?) marmon flange so i can have it welded to the dp?

Failing that then i guess ebay would solve it but quite pricey

General Technical / Borg Warner Turbo oil drain flange bolt size?

As above. The bolts form my old turbo (Garrett copy) dont fit the BW turbo, about 2mm diameter too small on the thread

Any ideas what bolt size are required? The US stuff use different measurements to UK :Hammer

General Technical / KG Parts Rail question

I bought a kg parts secondary rail for my T2 13BT engine.
I\'m trying to get all the parts so i can replace the oem secondary rail.

The KG rail is tapped at 3/8 NPT, so i\'m assuming i can fit this adaptor:

Rotary and General Chit-Chat / Where to buy new turbo?

Looking to buy a new turbo, branded one may consider used (no more of this buy cheap, buy twice malarky!)

Looking for something like greddy TD06 20G / 25G or similar. Garrett GT35 something?

Its for a stock port T2 block with 550cc primary, 1680cc secondary injectors, APEng PFC, V mount.

Not after big numbers (350+bhp @fly)but want something that will boost early (not laggy), T4 footprint.

Any thoughts where to buy and what turbo?

General Technical / Fuel Pulsation Damper Question

I\'m upgrading my secondary fuel rail to a KG rail as i\'m getting fuel leak from around the injector. Having read up on some articles it might be a faulty pulsation damper (on the primary rail) causing the fuel leak.

Anyone else had problems with a faulty pulsation damper on their T2?
Where to source a new one?

Also on FC3S PRO they say can remove the pulsation damper by using a S4 T2 primary rail and a banjo bolt. Anyone done this? good or bad?

How can you test if the pulsation damper is faulty or not?

Been sat for 2 years. Had oil change before it put into "storage"
Starts strong and drives well.

The etune2 has longer pistons so lots less likely to suffer from piston slap.

Hoping to put funds towards getting the FC back in tip top condition ready fur some summer fun :Giggle

General Technical / OEM Secondary fuel rail and 1680cc injectors

Hello,

I have a leaking secondary rail, leaks where the injector plugs into the rail.
From googling i\'d hazard a guess that the O ring is possible gone (injectors only covered about 1000 miles from new).

To fit 1680cc injectors into an oem secondary rail, is the injector hole bored out? any other work involved to fit 1680cc injectors?

Reason for asking this is that im thinking instead of it being a problem with the O ring, it could be the rail was bored out badly, if it is just bored out to fit larger injectors.

Can anyone confirm regarding the boring out of the rail to fit larger injectors?

if it is that then i\'m guessing i\'m in need of a new rail instead of O rings?

Just to confirm, to take out the secondary rail i\'ll have to take off the UIM? Would the UIM gasket need to be replaced to can be reused? Only covered about 500 miles since rebuild with new gasket i believe.

Lastly where to buy new O rings / rebuild kit for injectors? (hoping wont need to do that.)

Cars for Sale / FS: Mazda RX7 FC3S

Dont really want to post this but i really don\'t have any time or space for this any more.

JDM S5 with chassis covering about 75000 miles.
I think its pretty good condition for age and underside looks pretty good.
Not spotted any obvious signs of rusting.
Brought in 2007 and personally covered about 3000 miles in uk and not used in winter.

Engine rebuilt By MAV tuning (Ben Lewis Mav on here) just over a year ago and done about 500 miles running in. Just rack up a few more miles then can go for mapping. Expect about 375bhp (fly, give or take 25bhp) at about .9 bar (rough estimate).

Resale values of after market parts alone (priced to sell) is well over £6k, not inc chassis, body and oem parts.
That gives you a bit of an indication to how much i\'ve put into her.

I don\'t expect to see this price but serious offers only.
Please don\'t bash this post about it not being worth £xxx etc as different people see things differently.

Bad points:
Exhaust needs a good clean out as oil built up from when the turbo oil seal went.
I think there is one leaky injector on top rail. Possibly cracked fuel feed line going to injector (not had time to investigate fully yet)
Needs a good clean on outside.

Thats the only things i can think of then ready to put through MOT. Has TAX til July 2014.

The engine is strong and starts 1st time, as expected from being freshly rebuilt.

I\'m sure there\'s more but i cant think of anything else for now.
Please feel free to ask any questions.

PS will not break the car as no time or space.

just re fitted my turbo (thanks to ade and ash for the rebuild )
But thinking to replace the oem turbo line that goes from the block to the turbo.

What size the the bolt on the engine and where to buy the required bolts, pipe, restrictor (1.5-2mm) plus turbo oil inlet flange?
