Rotary and General Chit-Chat / any HR or employment lawyers around?
« on: January 22, 2009, 09:20:18 AM »
I was told last nigh that my company cannot afford to pay us our full salaries at the end of this month! And in fact the best we can get is 50%:Grrr:eek::eek: !!!!!!

I am sure there is no legitimate way this is possible, but also is there any point in trying to do anything about it? If the company can\'t afford to pay salaries is there any point in trying to take action about it?

I could really do with some advice here as with only one salary coming in (and we are struggling on my full salary at the moment) this leaves me up a certain creek with no paddle!

2nd generation RX-7's / the saga continues!
« on: November 03, 2008, 12:41:46 PM »
Well on Saturday I managed to blow the engine AGAIN!!!!! Felt like a tip gone, I\'ll get it back to Dorset and investigations will begin.

Hit 1.3BAR (off a 9PSI wastgate Spring!!!)

things to investigate:
a) why is the dash unit only ever showing me max boost levels of circa 10PSI? And does this mean the ECU thinks I\'m only at 10PSI and fueling accordingly?
b) Why is the wastegate open and I\'m still geeting massive boost build up?
c) Are the various pressure sensors working properly?
d) Is the boost cut set up and if so for what boost pressure?

So last time I\'d installed the boost controller wrong and the engine went pop, this time I hit a boost level which shouldn\'t have been possible and pop!

I love rotaries! :Giggle

Well ,what with engines belonging to Prof, Aceman & me going pop in the last 10 days I was beginning to think there was something out there that had it out for rotaries, however now I think it is combustion engines in general as a mates 54 plate Audi S4 let go yesterday! Now that is one hell of a big V8 to fail - puts the cost of a rotary rebuild into perspective!:2eek

2nd generation RX-7's / Back to a virtual car again!!!

So today the plan was simple, first get up and have the tree surgeon trim back a tree in the garden then off to RE Worx for mapping!

Sounds simple enough right? well so firstly tree bloke calls 20 mins ater he was supposed to arrive to say he can\'t make it as he\'s looking after the kids, his wife is stuck in London having had her car towed!

Fine, so lets go to RE Worx then....

yep, so the damn car won\'t start, just floods as soon as you turn the ignition so after several unfloodings and an aborted attempt a t a tow start I decide to call out a low loader £175 later and very late to RE Worx car is there, takes a further 2 hours to get it started, by which time Geff only has time to partially map the car so driving back and every now and again I get the mother of all backfires (I think the fuel pump is playing up - at least I\'m replacing that v soon)

Finally car back, wallet abused!

Good news the car will be at RS!

Well what with Scooby Si reappearing from the dim and distant past, I though I\'d add my highly improbable event:

Yes that\'s righ folks I picked it up yesterday (still needs a few things, MOT, tyres etc, oh yes and an idle map which allows it to idle - I\'m planning on doing that today, and the rad fans don\'t come on when they should (another ECU map issue) but I\'ve got her back and she\'ll be on the road by Monday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :Thumbsup!:Thumbsup!:Thumbsup!:guinness

I spent Saturday walking with wolves (a few pics attached) such an experience!:Thumbsup!

2nd generation RX-7's / Braces?
« on: May 14, 2008, 02:08:41 PM »
Does anyone know if there is a Diff Brace for the FC available? Just thinking it might make a sensible investment for the strip...

2nd generation RX-7's / well there has been progress!
« on: April 11, 2008, 11:21:02 PM »
OK so it didn\'t make it in time for the weekend, and that has cost me a pint (Blitzboy - I\'ll get you your Magners tomorrow!)

But a lot has happened at old hillbilly motorsport over the past week and it could have been finished if the oil cooler pipes had arrived but here are some progress pics (you will note the lacy of IC or rad - they are on the floor in a nice V-mount position ready to be fitted

2nd generation RX-7's / Not for sale yet, but....
« on: April 07, 2008, 04:28:02 PM »
This isn\'t an official for sale thread as the car isn\'t ready, but...

I am looking to sell the cabrio that a mate and I have been working on:

As it stands the car is a runner, completly standard UK car with 88k on the clock.

Work to date:
We have replaced the front right wing with a resprayed item, replaced the intake temp sensor and solved the issue that car initially had with starting(basically the car was flooded!)

Before the car is sold we will replace the driver\'s side light motor and repair the roof.

The car comes with a massive ammount of history and prior to Ali buying the car, it had been in the same family since it\'s initial sale in 1990.

What is the level of interest?

I\'ll post better pics when I get the chance.

General Technical / Turbo II Lights (AGAIN)!
« on: March 10, 2008, 04:46:55 PM »
Ok here goes, this one is prob for Stu & Prof, but open to everyone :Thumbsup! !

The cabrio we recently obtained is now a runner which is good, the drivers\' side light stays in the up position - which is not good!

The motor is happy to raise the light, but doesn\'t lower it, having looked to the setup, it appears that there is one relay as the motor only moves one way so why does the light only go up??????? The guy that sold the car has two spare lights with motors which he is planning on sending us, but the motor seems to work (for half a revolution!) so I don\'t know if that\'ll fix it.
