General Technical / Solid engine mounts

I put some solid engine mounts in my old 106 GTi and it was absolutely unbearable due the vibrations running from the engine running through the car.  Almost shook my teeth out.

No, Carl Hayward did the rebuild.  I wouldnt trust myself doing that, though I try and do most of the other little things myself if I have the time.

Thought I would post a few pics of my 7.  Bought it last summer with a blown engine and in not great condition and have been slowly restoring back to good health.  Recently had a blow over done on the exterior so its looking great, just need a nice set of wheels as the stock ones are looking a bit tatty.  I have also fitted Rotary Extreme toelinks and trailing arms and silicone hoses are being fitted this week.  Im also about to order the Mazdaspeed drilled disk as my current ones are going to need replacing very soon.

General Technical / Remote Central Locking
« on: March 10, 2004, 06:22:55 PM »
remote central locking is when you lock and unlock the car via a remote.

Apparently it is difficult to fit because the locking mechanism on the 3rd gen uses wires rather than rods to lock and unlock.  They also reckon that the locking mechanism on imports is different to the uk models, can anyone shed any light on this?

Can anybody tell me how much of a job it is to fit remote central locking to a 3rd Gen RX-7.  Im currently having problems with GAP security who as well as making a really crap job of installing the alarm, are telling me its going to cost me hundreds extra to install the remote central locking.  This is due to them having to replace the whole system or something despite the fact that remote central locking is supposed to be part of what I payed for in the first place?

For those that are interested it cost me $163 dollars for the kit including shippingand they only accept payment through Western Union.  So once I had payed the fee for that the full cost came to around £100.
