I love the sound of the beep I\'m gonna get to play with I have a beautiful road to drive to work that will see plenty of beeps on limiter.

now to get this straight to check hot cold start, I should test drive it, take it easy for 10 mins then open up a lil, come back turn off leave to settle for 10-15 mins and try to start up again?

and the leads never replaced leads before are they easy to fit at same time or bit more tricky?

just found link in another post and a kinda guide does seem easy enough. roughly how long would coils last before needing to be replaced, just so I can go through the service history?

Welcome to Mazdarotaryclub and we hope you find what you are looking for,
Even if the car starts instantly when cold the biggest thing to check with the RX-8 is to make sure it has a run down the road to make sure its nice and warm then turn the car off, leave for the same amount of time it takes for a tank of fuel to be put in which is around 8 to 10 minutes and only then restart the car.

If the car does not start cleanly straight away, walk away fronm the car as the engines compression will be low and only get worse.

The only real Achilles heal on the RX-8 is the ignition coils and you need to either check for invoices that the four coils have been changed or factor in the price of genuine Mazda coils (pattern ones invariably cause issues)

Aside from just these two things above just look and check the car over just like you would say a Ford Fiesta or any other "normal" car.

With prices of the  RX-8  now, a huge amount of car is able to be bought for not much money.

hope this helps

how much are the coils to be done? can it be done at home or only a garage jobby?

picking up my first rx8 on sat coming, been on forum for a bit, under old details, as was prev buying rx8 but didn\'t happen then but is def happening now.

just trying to put the feelers out for potential problems to look out for, ive already read up on the hot cold start stuff so anything else to look out for?

its a 04, 56k on clock just had mot and service

prev had citroen saxo for many years as it was fun and easy to fix cheapish to run, now making the step to a more grown up car, as apparently scoobys and evos aren\'t proper family cars. ( wife thinks as mazda has the room in back it will be a family car for nice outings)
