Title: Beaulieu:"Simply Japanese" Show, Sunday 28 July (Deadline 30th June)
Post by: Casey on May 01, 2019, 04:11:04 PM
The RX-8 Owners Club are again extending the invitation to join them at this event. I've been many times now, and apart from last year (monsoon washout!), it's been a really enjoyable day out, with plenty to do and see. It's a great event for families too, with so much to see and do, apart from seeing all the gorgeous cars. Here's a link to the Beaulieu website, for anyone that's not been before:

https://www.beaulieu.co.uk/attractions/

And here's more details about the "Simply Japanese" event there:

https://www.beaulieu.co.uk/events/simply-japanese/

Tickets are now available from the RX-8 OC online Shop, price £10 per adult and £5 per child. A bargain compared to the normal entry fee for Beaulieu (£19.50 adult advance payment ticket)! Shop link:

https://shop.rx8oc.co.uk/Simply_Japanese_-_Beaulieu/p664353_9922868.aspx

When you buy a ticket, please state your forum name and add "MRC" so the RX-8 OC can keep track. I hope to see some of you there, hopefully with suntan cream, rather than rain gear!!

The RX-8 OC will again lay on drinks and snacks. Supplies available throughout the day for a £5 pp donation to the Club (unless you are already an RX-8 OC Member). Bring a mug/cup if you can.

Who's Paid to go   :)
1. casey (RX-7 FB)
2. clive + Lisa (RX-4)
3. Jamie R + Emma (Subaru  ;D)
4. Markp +1 (RX-7 FB)
5. John + Maria (RX-7 FB or RX-8)
6. boosted (RX-7 FD)
7. Sarah (MX-5 Eunos)
8. Barry +1 (Eunos Cosmo)

If you have paid for a ticket, just post up below and I'll keep the list up to date  :great:

MEETING UP AND CONVOY ARRANGEMENTS

PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR TICKET AND STAND PASS!  :D

Please note that club areas will only be reserved until 10am, after this time the area will be released to other participants. Individual club members arriving after 10am are not guaranteed to be able to join their booked club area."

Entrance gates open at 8.30am.

Therefore, please meet at a Tescos Dibden Superstore just off the A326 (Just after Applemore Hill) from 7.45am ready to leave 8.15am sharp and convoy in together to get to the car park holding area at Beaulieu by 08:30 =D>

Afternoon Casey... just in the process of buying 2 tickets directly from Beaulieu for Simply Japanese 28th July.. (same price and easier to do than with RX8OC) If it’s ok , we will be turning up in Rx8 road going track car and one or other Rx7 (whichever’s available at the time) Hopefully that’s cool with yourself and RX8OC and can park up with yourselves again... Happy Days... Cheers Linas

Major Bump for this event, as time is running out to order a stand pass ticket at the ridiculously low price of £10 (very cheap entry for this premier venue!).

THE DEADLINE is Sunday 30 June to order a ticket, details in the first post. We will be sharing with the RX-8 OC who have very kindly opened up their stand booking to other Japanese cars. Rotaries will be given pride of place and, to date, I believe the attendance is looking like this:

Clive: RX-4
Ian Mothersole: RX-7 Gen 1 Series 2 FB
Casey: RX-7 Gen 1 Series 3 FB
KiwiDave: RX-7 Gen 1 Series 3 FB
kenwhiteside: RX-7 Gen 1 Elford Turbo FB
Hobbawobba: RX-7 Gen 1 with 13B Turbo conversion
DKWW2000: RX-7 Gen 2 FC TII Vert (if Dry!)
LINAS: RX-7 FD
JamieR: (cough) Subaru (cough)  ;) :)

Plus about 10-20 RX-8's

Hopefully the weather will be fine and it's a great venue, not just for cars, but very historic too, with lovely house, gardens and lots going on (excellent falconry display sometimes!).

The RX-8 OC will be providing light refreshments throughout the day and simply ask a one-off contribution of £5 pp (on the day) to partake. Much cheaper than the food outlets, and there'll be home made cakes too  :P

A great family day out and a chance to give your rotary a good run out.

I hope some more people can join the party  :)

Yep, got mine yesterday.

Hoping Clive and Mark got theirs too?

That's everyone then, I think, of those that bought via the RX8OC shop?

Plus Linas, who purchased direct from Beaulieu. I'll see if Nigel can try and wangle a larger stand as the space allocated by the organisers is based on tickets bought via the club.

 :13: thanks Clive.

Just spoken to Nigel, as I'm trying to check MRC and RX7FB club bookings have all gone through OK  :)

Nigel confirmed that Barry on here has also been sent a ticket and stand pass, intending to come along in his Eunos Cosmo. I saw this car last year and it was in stunning condition.

Looks like we'll have a great variety of rotaries this year  :13:

Yep, hoping for no repeat of the freak weather we had last year!

The organisers at Beaulieu normaĺly request each club try to roll up together to ease the job of guiding us to our stand position. It's therefore the custom for everyone to try and meet up locally and convoy in together, which is cool.

I'll post up details of the convoy rendezvous point and time nearer the date.

Very much looking forward to the day .... just an update I will be bringing my FD and a Rx8 to this event (both tickets I bought from Beaulieu directly, as for some reason it was easier....my bad) So please add both cars to your list please..... Not sure if I can make the rendezvous point but will give it a try (ferries and all) and would it be possible to send me 2 stand passes if required... didn’t need them last time.... Anyhow I wish you all a pleasant evening and looking forward to seeing you at Beaulieu.... Ta ta for now... Cheers Linas

Malcolm, I will be travelling from S West so if I can not make RV Timings I will go direct to location.
As we are expecting a good spread of Rotary's, is there a "Seating Plan" on the stand ie - by age/model etc?
Longish range Met looking good :great:

I spoke to Chris Holmes (the RX-8OC organiser, along with me too it would now seem  ;)) about this and we agreed it would be a great idea to park everyone's cars in model order  :icon_thumleft:

A little difficult, as we have no idea of the shape or size of the stand area we will have until we arrive. However, we'll try to organise those arriving at the convoy meeting area to leave in some sort of model order, which might help when we arrive. But it might be like herding cats......your patience on the day will be appreciated :13:

I think it would be a great way to show the evolution of Mazda rotaries to the passing public. OK, may not have a full set of models, but an excellent cross section!

Some bad news though  :(  The organisers won't permit us to have stoves on our stand (H&S, fire risk...), so no bacon butties for breakfast   ???

We'll have a large Gazebo though, so are arranging to have hot drinks, plus a selection of "finger food" and cold drinks to be available. Home made scones, with jam and cream have been promised  :P

Thanks Malcolm... looking forward to seeing you all on Sunday at Beaulieu... And of course you can use my email address to send 2 stand passes if required ... shouldn’t require them but better safe than sorry.. Would have booked through RX8OC, but it just didn’t seem to work for some reason... Hopefully there will be a bit of space, we’ll see on the day.... reckon I won’t get there till after 9am ferries and all... Sorry!!! Also would you be so kind to remind me about membership renewal... it was on a recurring payment every year but has for some reason unbeknown to me stopped (only saw this couple of days ago) Anyhow Ta ta for now....  ;D ;D Air con!! That's cheating! Ian.M is bringing the large RX-8 OC gazebo, but if we have space on the stand, an extra one would come in handy. We have no idea of the location, shape or size of the stand area until we roll up, so getting everyone parked up could be fun  :)

Huge thanks from me to everyone who came along yesterday. It made the work for the organisers feel worthwhile when the day goes well and we have good feedback. I certainly had a great day looking around and chatting to people on the stand.

It was fantastic to get so many Mazda rotary models represented on the stand, from Clive's RX-4 through to the RX-8 R3.

Our pretty good timeline display of the RX-4 through the FB, FC and FD models managed to attract the attention of the show's commentator, Tim Watson.

Somehow, I got volunteered to be the spokesman for the stand, being interviewed by Tim, who is producing a video of the day. Hopefully, some of the stuff I spouted (hopefully mostly accurate!) will find it's way into the final edit. It's amazing how your brain goes dead when a mic is suddenly thrust in your face though ;)

If the video is any good, I'll post a link here. If it's rubbish, I'll go hide somewhere!

I have some photos which I'll post up soon, in the meantime, here's a taster.

But again, thanks to everyone who came along to make it such a great day out  :icon_thumleft:

Was a great day,

That white FD was really nice.

I followed it in, thought I had a problem with the scooby for a short while but it was his exhaust popping on lift off.

Sounded great

Yup it has some fantastic lines !

I even had the pleasure of climbing in the hot seat.

I dunno if it's gripping on to the skinny steering wheel, but it oozes a certain charm that you just don't get anymore.
