New posts option?
« on: December 03, 2014, 04:12:51 PM »
How about the 'New Posts' button? That was very handy to catch up on the latest.

On the HOME page (only), right at the bottom of the page, under "Forum Stats", there is a link entitled "View the most recent posts on the forum". Is this what you need?

We are looking to see if the forum code will allow us to the link to a more convenient place at the top of the page

Previous site had that too. I always use that.
Power is nothing without control. Weight is enemy of performance, handling and braking.

Not very obvious perhaps but there is a "Show unread posts since last visit" text link, under the logo/username at top left, that works like the old "New Posts" menu option.  Easier than scrolling to the bottom of the home page.

:wee_hee: Andrew, you are still with us, excellent  :13:

I'm sure you'll have worked this out, but for the benefit of others.....

Both the top and bottom links serve useful purposes. The top one is useful on the first logon of the day, to see new posts, then the bottom one is for anyone wants to go back further, or on a later logon session.

If you log out and immediately log back in, the "top" linked list is "cleared", as there will have been little chance of a new post between logout and login. However, the bottom linked list is unaffected and will always show all recent posts for the last week or so.

Hi Malcolm

Yes still here - notwithstanding that every time I log in the new site tells me I have entered the wrong password.  Re-entering the same string of characters lets me in though.  Might just be me of course...I've got more log-ins for E-bay than I can count because mine rarely work more than once. Maybe I've got a disruptive auric field or am living in a crack in the space time continuum.  Thinking about it and looking around, that last is probably the answer.

Never mind, all looking very nice.

Hi Crissy
Well not quite an i-anything (Mac Pro Server) but don't worry I've been a Mac user forever - it's quite comforting to know I'm still part of an oppressed minority.
