I do not wish to know this sum of which you speak as it may mess with my budget for the RX8.

Apparently putting details of your car spec in your signature means the nice folks on exile-rotorsport think you\'re a fool.  I can think of no higher compliment!

Hahaha. Still 7k would give you a half decent 8 or FD for track stuff, wouldn\'t be as light but it would still have a roof.

The MGB looks pretty nippy! :O.... Big wing & v8?

Good work BTW, especially as the BMW spins out and you have to follow suit! :)

My budget\'s a bit more than 7k!  Perhaps I should alter my plans for the 8 and get one of these as well?

Ok car was 5100 and is a bit old build is stated as 94  it has a live axle instead of the more modern IRS but everything on it was re done in 2011/12. All the brakes suspension are new. The car was at some point a race car with 2.0 vauxhall xe .

I added up all the bits on the car like wide track suspension, procomp shocks digital dash, fire extinguisher harness ,cage and came to a figure in excess of original asking price.....plus what an unfinished build or pinto engine 1 would have cost.

I knew the conversion was carried out using an engine with 64k on so decided a rebuild on a spare sourced engine was needed for peace of mind .....and a little power hike.

The exhaust was rebuilt and made repackable and cost £700.00 the manifold is new as the old 1 was to low to put on a bigger silencer.

Ive bought a spare set of wheels team dynamics 1.2 for £500.00

Seat for £100.00

serviced it £200.00

I was saving for an old Radical prosport or at a touch sr3 and had enough cash but the servicing and running cost are ridiculous and i was up against 100k budgets.

The great thing about Special gts is the winner in each class with the highest points is the overall championship winner so even though someone may have better machinery is you\'ve had better results within your class you can take overall championship.

|I still need to spend out on Trailer, rebuild, clutch, and garage awning but will still be ok in monetary terms. Carls given me a very reasonable price on building me an engine with me doing the remove and install and refresh at end of season. This has all been budgeted for

The car is simple in terms of build and working on it...technically a large go kart. No bad back as most stuff is easy to work on...

Nose cone £70, cycle wings £60 pair. Small 15 or 13 " wheels cheap. Ebay is a wash with parts and so many forums and companys to gleam info from.

Its tatty in places and i hope to give the body a colour change as not to keen on BRG.

I think i got it cheap as it has a rotary in it......if it had a similar s2000  powered engine in it i think maybe 8 or 9k. I dropped the asking price £600.00 by simply saying 99% of people are gonna walk as soon as they read Rotary! He should have said yeah but i\'m talking to you and your the 1%! But thats history now.

Road track or race this conversion makes sense as Rotary power is cheaper than piston power.  Any engined car driven on track will return low mpg, and eventually will need rebuilding.

Will,
i dont know what you intentions are but you need to find a series you want to compete in and download the regs to see if suitable....my original intention was an rx8 in the castle combe saloons but they apply a stupid co=efficient on rotarys and turbos not originally fitted OEM are not allowed so you cant run with turbos RX8.

In summary 10-11 K set up on the grid.:3gears-rh
I just want to give it go and have some fun.;)

Mine\'s probably going to run in Club RWD Time Attack initially so I\'ve got very little restrictions.  Depending on funds I might look at competitive racing series but I like the profile of Time Attack and there\'s not an RX8 racing in it and it gives me a chance to get the car set up with an accurate measure of its pace without banging doors with other racers or trotting round at the back.

£1,000 for a fire extinguisher?!! I can steal one from site for you for the bargain price of £500 if you want? I can get replacements too for bargain special price to you will for £100.

Seriously though it\'s just an extinguisher and some piping. Nice and easy and cheap:D

I suppose if you wanna go racing really cheap then an rx8 can be picked up for 1500 and just add roll cage harness and suspension.

A running FD can be had for 2500-3500, add roll cage harness and suspension.

It can be fairly cheap until you want to start winning
