Race report/ Well it was an eventful day.

Just two laps into practice the engine cut and whilst in "rolling mode" in the Stowe complex looking for somewhere to park a Celica that has spun stupidly tried to immediately drive back on the track and speared me at a right angle causing damage down most of the side of the car!

Took ages to find why there was no spark on my completely separate ignition system, turned out to be hidden fuse buried under the dash.

The line up procedure takes around half an hour and with all the stop start procedure and the marshals keeping moving us around the battery was just to flat to start the car , thinking the fuse had blown again I didn't think to get a push start  :(

HOWEVER, so many other drivers felt I was so lucky as world war three broke out in and around the area where I would have started on the grid with an immediate red flag to remove one totally written of car.

This meant I started dead last with the promoter begging me  to let them settle down before "attacking", apparently at the end the MR2's were still taking bits off each other  >:D

After dispensing with eight cars my being cautious had let the front runners be to far down the road to catch so after a rubbish day I just went for the finish and wound up a disappointing distant tenth but still got a trophy for first in class !!!!!!!!!!!

Carl Hayward was there for support and noted that the smaller cars that did not have the straight line speed I had, gained two advantages over me in that they did not have the weight I had to get slowed  for the corners and were then much more nimble though the corners even though he could see I was on the limit most of the time.

Also showed me I have now gone the wrong way with diff gears and need to revert back to a 4.4.

plus side was once the car stayed running it was perfect, no smoke and not a drop of oil used all day so all my oil surge issues have now gone .

May go to the all comers race  at brands in two weeks time to see what the cars like with a different gear in the back end.

Time to start choppy chopping the car then. I however don’t know where you could start making holes.

If the race organisers know how bad the guys in the MR2s are why don’t they do something about it, after all every pays to race and it would seem they are spoiling it for the rest?

Phew got to race then! Not sure what was going on with Tsl Timing...showed you on the grid then you disappeared so i feared the worst.

Saw the TSL timing results before your above report; two qually laps and then "no show" in the first race and 10th in the 2nd, so I guessed you had an issue that you managed to sort.

Glad you got one full race done at least - and a trophy  :13: - hoping the bodywork damage is not a difficult fix  :(

Off to Brands today for the last proper racing of the year,

Tidied the car up on the quick after the Civic attack, put a new model battery we have started to sell, metered out the ignition system out and found the fuse that blew was too low on amperage, so ready for tomorrow the longer All Comers Races tomorrow ,

lets see how it performs with a lower diff fitted. If I can find enough grip I'm hoping I can get out of Druids, get it into 4th and this will them take me all the way along Cooper Straight, if it works I think it could find a lump of speed rather than feathering out in 3rd down the hill then changing into 4th after the corner.

As the car is way to kind on the tyres, I was going to change tyre brand to a softer tyre, but realised if I did and the turns out to be faster, then I wouldn't know if it was just tyres that made the improvement!.
